Being part of the organizing committee of the Engineering Students Congress for two consecutive years (2020 – 2021) was a task that required both technical skills for trend analysis of desired topics, development of the congress website, and guidance to encourage student communities to participate by creating their own activities and contests; simultaneously, soft skills were needed for contacting expert speakers related to the most demanded topics, seeking sponsors to support its development, and collaborating in the creation of a repository for safeguarding all presentations for students to review later.
It’s worth noting that after collaborating with data-driven companies, I decided to propose doing the same for the congress (and especially for my Data Engineering faculty), to stop making decisions based on hunches and instead base them on community responses…or in other words: Data.
